Vietnamese coconuts are known for their exceptional quality and productivity, surpassing those of other countries. The average productivity of Ben Tre reaches 1.9 tons copra/ha, which is higher than the average rate of APCC (0.9 tons copra/ha). Oil concentration in Ben Tre coconut is more than 65%. Moreover, the coconut water is sweeter and fresher (brix: 7-9% for dwarf coconut type), so it’s highly favored. This information is supported by assessments from both the Asian & Pacific Coconut Community (APCC) and the International Coconut Community (ICC).

The coconut tree is one of the popular plants across the country with nearly 200,000 ha of cultivation, creating a source of income for around 390,000 farming households.
